Many people don't understand while others don't believe that breathing and staying still is a healing agent. Silence is something many of us are not comfortable with while others practice meditation daily and seem to be the most chilled people we know. I would like to advocate for an awareness around our breath and breathing. Here's my take on it:
Carve out time daily to chill:
Take the time to put your feet up and do nothing. Watch a positive movies on Netflix or just sit on your deck with a book to read. Put on some music that is melodic and dance to it. Running constantly is not good for us and we must tell ourselves that we need down time to chill. It may seem silly but going to the park, hugging a tree as gratitude and then laying under it for a time will melt the stress away. It is a connecting to Source, God, Buddha or Goddess. Your inner spirit needs that kind of compassion and you are just the right person to do it.
Do the breathing exercise:
I have a very simple breathing exercise that always helps me to get centered. Just breath in through your nose for a count of ten (very deeply), hold it for a count of four and then release it fully through your mouth forcing all the air out of you. Take the time during the day to do this exercise. Again, closing your eyes or focusing on a lovely vision enhances the experience.
Consider daily meditation:
Every day take some time to silence everything and everyone. Get in a private space and sit on a meditation mat or chair. Have a space that is decorated for the purpose of holding reverence to your inner spirit. Put on some meditation music on Pandora Radio (free music by genre). Enjoy a minimum of ten minutes and increase it to twenty. When you are in meditation turn everything off and let others know you are in meditation. If you see yourself wandering off, recite a mantra like: "I feel peaceful, grateful and whole" or "I am in a sacred space and I am loving myself right now".
Breath with Intention-awareness:
Close your eyes and just breath with an awareness of your breath. This requires that you breath just a little deeper and that you are just aware of your breathing. Place your hands on the sides of your face as a symbol of acceptance and love. Breathing with intention helps relieve anxiety and stress and can be done anywhere.
Breath with love:
Giving yourself some love is as easy as closing your eyes, placing your hand on your heart place and acknowledging that your breath is pumping your heart. This kind of purposeful exercise brings awareness to your conscious and unconscious mind around breathing and living. As you to this think gratitude, what you are grateful for.
